What's happening?
Detroit Public Theatre is raising funds for development of a 200-seat black box theater with a lobby, bar, drama bookshop/library, rehearsal studio, dressing rooms and a box office. The new location at the Third Avenue Garage building in Midtown (built in 1919 and once an English muffin factory) is owned by 3 Mission Partners, developer of the project. Detroit Public Theatre signed a long-term lease for the space and exterior renovations were complete in 2021, when opening was anticipated for spring 2022.
